We where cooking 2 filet mignon with potatoes and onions for about 50 minutes at 375 F., once it was done, pullet out and set it on the table, a minute later exploded.

  • Linda

You are not the only one this happened to. Last Thursday my Pyrex dish exploded just when I was taking out of oven, glass shattered everywhere! I have carpeting in my kitchen(I am a renter) and the glass burnt into carpet, I have tried to contact Pyrex directly, had to leave message and it’s been a week and no return phone call

  • Robin Putich

I had a pyrex pie plate explode last night in our oven. Never had this happen before. I am going to try and get Pyrex to replace my product, but it doesn’t seem promising after reading similar stories.

  • Nina Rone

I have been in love with Pyrex for my 50 years of married life! Here’s what we need from you now: DISHES (NOT Corelle) that are microwave-safe and stay cool. They can be clear glass or any kind of glass, but please not plastic. Plates, soup bowls and serving bowls. Pretty PLEASE????

    Thank you,

    Nina Rone

I was really excited to get my first ever set of Pyrex bakeware, and I had high hopes even though many reviews say that they break. Hoping for better luck, I ordered a five piece set. When I saw them, I understood why they have been breaking. They are riddled with huge bubbles, scratches, and cracks. Unacceptable.

I am looking for a replacement for a cracked cover. Where can I buy one?

  • Vicki Fador

I have used pyrex dishware all my life and never experienced what happened to us last night. My daughter was baking pork loin in the oven took out sat on top of stove to check whether meat done when all of sudden dish exploded- glass went flying everywhere! Extremely lucky no one was seriously injured. Going to eye doctor not sure whether small piece of glass entered my eye. We thought perhaps a bad batch of bakeware was produced by Pyrex. Will not use pyrex again and am telling friends and family not to use.

  • Susan

The Pyrex glass exploded and burst in my Oven. It Lterally burst in as I was checking on my Roast. Thankfully, I was wearing my Glasses to have protection from any damage to my eyes.

  • Lynne

I was cooking chicken in my new Pyrex dish and as I removed it from the oven, set at 350 degrees, the dish exploded. I did step on a glass sliver as I backed away from the oven. I have used Pyrex for over 30 years and have never experienced this. Afraid to use it again.

  • Shawn

WOW!!! After reading all of those reviews it sure seems like you guys need a great deal better help in your I.T. Department than you have been getting so far.

We own several of these and the lids are awful. We will not be buying them again until there is a redesign. The gasket is difficult to align and the window in the lid is hard plastic so it make the lid stiff and hard to open. Due to that stiffness, we have cracked several of the “windows.” They are more likely to leak than to stay sealed when you carry them for lunch.

Recall this lid and send it back to the drawing board.

The base is standard Pyrex-we have no complaints there.

  • Susan

I just had my 2 year old Pyrex baking dish explode on my counter and fillet my leg. I now have 14 stitches and an urgent care bill to pay, not to mention a dinner that was filled with glass shards! My kitchen looked like a crime scene. I am disposing of all my Pyrex and will be replacing them with metal pans.

  • Christy

    Cracked covers

I attempted to call customer service to replace my lids, the voice mail indicated they r closed and will reopen on dec 2 at 8 am. My call was ended. Today is dec 2 and I was unable to speak to a person.

  • PAMELA LOOS

I was cooking a pot roast as I have done in the past in the same baking dish. When I took it out of oven it exploded there was glass pieces in my pot roast and vegetables so my dinner was not safe to eat. I have never had this happen before or experienced anything like this have used Pyrex for over 35 years.

  • debbie rees (landa)

Agent took all my info. was very, very nice ans. all my qst. and reviewed how to handle hot pyrex dishes. although this was not my fault, but found him to be very helpful and is sending me a replacement. THANK YOU…

  • Joe Green

Pyrex! your lids failed again.Back in 2009 I had you replaced the lids, that you did gleefully .. then not be defeated I saw you upgraded your lids again so I replaced my entire set of 6 with your new line of lids and glass ware Since then the lids failed again your glass ware is outstanding but You have no idea how to make lids EXCEPT for one bowel that you made in the late 80s early 90s I think.

It is Pyrex Oval 8500 09. 3 2/3 cup made in the USA it has a Gray oval snap on lid with a vent tab it has been used with lid in the microwave and dish washer approximately 500 000 times. Now if you can find out what you did then just do that again.

I have had and used Pyrex cookware my entire life as did my mother and never have heard of or seen anything like this happen! While cooking two Cornish hens at 350 degrees I was checking them to see if they were brown (thankfully not bent over with my hand or face directly in front) and the dish literally exploded in my oven. I tried to call customer service but can’t reach them on Sunday. I am disappointed and grateful that all I lost my dinner because it surely could have been a very serious injury.

hopefully I will be able to reach them by phone first thing in the morning. If anyone out there has ever heard or experienced this please comment.

  • Barbara Resseguie

Agent took my information and is sending me a replacement cover. Good customer service and agent was very helpful and professional. So happy I bought a product that is backed up by it’s company. That is rare these days.

    Thank you

  • west bengal ban...

About January 2015 my pyrex dish broke after removing from oven. Called Pyrex to complain 800 999 3436 and was told Pyrex would send a replacement. I gave my address and cell phone number. Almost immediately and since that time I have received daily calls from the following numbers (some U S cities and some from forerign places) Here goes: 7864239592; 7869755223; 7864231778;8667134887;4463434837;7856303009; and todays call came from 9332630829 in west bengal bangladesh!!!!!!

Now I have to take the time and file a complaint under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). Under the act I can receive $500 to $1500 per call so I suppose it is worth my time.

Oh I received the replacement but exploding glass is dangerous so I threw Pyrex away.

  • Rhonda Baker

How did you get in touch with an agent? I have had three different Pyrex glass dishes break and shatter but I have no idea how to get touch with an agent to get replacements. Can you help by telling me how you got in touch with an agent?

    Tank you very much!

When I went to remove my 13×9″ pan from the oven which had been cooking for approximately 20 minutes at 375 degrees, it exploded in my hands. Thankfully I was uninjured but, had glass and HOT food all over my kitchen and stove, What a mess!!

  • Carolyn

The 6 cup rectangle dish from the Simply Store set exploded while it was in my kitchen cabinet. I heard a loud popping noise and then heard breaking glass. I opened my kitchen cabinet door and found that the dish had exploded while it was stored in the cabinet. The room and cabinet temperature was approximately 70 degrees. The dish was new and had never been used. I have been trying unsuccessfully to contact Pyrex about this.

  • Patrick

Pyrex glass is great — but why are the lids so inferior? They crack and/or they develop a foggy film on them that looks and feels unclean. How can one half be of good quality and the other so poor? Doesn’t make sense.

  • Shiba

I bought a Pyrex beaker and mixed some honey and water ror my Smoothie. I left the beaker on my Granite Counter top, left for work. I came back and there was glass everywhere. I thought there was an intruder in my house. But the Pyrex beaker just shattered on it’s own. Creepy!

  • Tara

Cooking enchiladas in a 9×13 and it shattered in pieces. It had only been oven for 30 mins. I am very disappointed it this product, it not only ruined supper it was a huge mess to clean up

  • Shawn S. O'Nele

My lovely but very young neice melted one of the plastic lids to one of our mother’s favorite Pyrex glass storage containers to the glass stovetop as she was cooking herself breakfast one day and I promised to look you up online to hopefully resolve the issue however I am unable to find in your website any means by which I might order a replacement lid (From You as opposed to some ne’er-do-well knock off) for this container and have been a bit frustrated at how incomplete your website really is. Do you not Have a directory? Was it not considered to be necessary? Are you unable or perhaps unwilling to offer genuine replacements from your venerable company for these products? I would so very much like to keep my neice out of trouble as it is such a small thing but if it would just be easier to buy an entirely new one for Mom then…I’ll go back to Wal-Mart or wherever to get it. It is too bad though that you can’t offer replacement lids on the shelf at such stores. Stretch-wrap is more mess than it’s worth sometimes. Good luck.

  • Fran R

As like you have used pyrex over 37 years I was cooking a pork roast at 350 when I opened the oven to check it the dish exploded although it did not cut me I had glass shards through my hair.

A couple of weeks ago, I had my nice butternut squash in the oven…an bang!! My pyrex dish explodes. Luckily the door was closed. Gonna try to get some money back…but I doubt they will give me anything.

I was given a gift of a 9X13 glass cake pan with a red lid, with handles. I was really disappointed the first time a baked a cake. The icing stuck to the top of the red lid. The lid is not tall enough for cakes, so it seems the only thing to be made in the pan is salads. I’m really disappointed in the product, as I have plenty of pyrex.

Why Pyrex can’t make a measuring cup that pours without making a huge mess is past all understanding. I have a 4 cup measuring cup that you read the amounts from the inside of the glass. I have to ladle liquids out of it to minimize the mess. This is beyond stupid. How many millions of these did you make? Didn’t you test to see if it would pour cleanly? Didn’t you care? Really, shame on you.

    To whom it may concern;
I would like to share with the company something that has happened so for future times things like this will never happen again. On April 20, 2015 my husband placed the bakeware pyrex into the oven to bake. The oven was at 350 degrees he opened oven to look at the meal and then shut the door—luckily or things may have turned out tragically. As he stepped away from the door the glassware blew up-the oven door flew open and glass was thrown all over. The glass flew all the way to my laundry room and into my walls. This could have been my husbands face and body. My children were shook up as well as my husband, they said it sounded like a bomb.
As customers we expect our product to be as it indicates-safe. I am very upset with what has happened and want the company to know that the product is not safe. I only used this product twice. I lost a pan , all my supper , clean up took hours and now I have to paint as all the shards left marks in walls. But I am glad my family is safe.
    Thank you for your time.
